BACKGROUND
The brief asked for instilling the Monkey spirit in a traditional hotel setting and after lots of our and our partners’ effort it resulted in the “Appartement 47”, a one off exclusive suite, where on can decelerate from day to day stress Monkey style. It is set not far from the Monkey 47’s own distillery in the renowned Hotel Fritz Lauterbad in Black Forest.
We started off with three single hotel rooms, which were combined into one space to allow for our concept to come to life. The space was then divided into various distinct areas, each with its own function and character, but all sharing the unique Monkey feel.
Inspired by the speak easy era, to enter the suite one must go through a hidden, secret door incorporated in an actual wardrobe. After having entered, one lands in the hallway lined in the distinct Monkey wallpaper and is greeted by a dimmed light emitted by handmade brass wall lamps. Further into the room the guests find them in the “Offline Room”, where two sumptuous swivelling armchairs are set in front of a vintage television set equipped with a VHS Player, of course, an eclectic selection of Monkey themed VHS classics are just an arms length away. Right next to it a crafted office-desk houses a record player and a handpicked selection of records fitting the Monkey attitude. Further into the room one finds the “Library”, a shelf stocked with works of German and international poets and writers and various Monkey merch items. Then there is the focal point of the room, the bar area, with its imposing antique copper and green tile bar, allowing the guests to mix that perfect gin&tonic and enjoy it while lounging on the plush bar stools. The bedroom is partitioned off via set of large, sliding barn doors, once inside the guests are greeted by a subdued earthy colour palette and beautiful, high quality furnishings and bedding. To bring the Monkey spirit across even more, all areas of the suite are adorned with real plants and intricate decorative items, that will put a smile on the faces of all the current and future Monkey aficionados.
Ein einmaliges Erlebnis für den Gast zu schaffen, bei dem er sich bewusst entschleunigt. Dies haben wir bei der Gestaltung des Appartement 47 einfließen lassen, bei dem wir aus drei einzelnen Zimmer des renommierten Hotel Fritz Lauterbad, diese unvergleichbare Suite geschaffen haben. Inspiriert von der Speak-Easy-Ära muss man, um die Suite zu betreten, durch eine versteckte Tür gehen, die in einen echten Kleiderschrank integriert ist. Nachdem man eingetreten ist, landet man im Flur, der wie das gesamte Appartement mit der markanten Affentapete gesäumt ist und wird von einer angenehm gedimmten Atmosphäre empfangen. Weiter im Raum finden die Gäste den „Offline Room“, wo zwei prächtige Drehsessel vor einem Vintage-Fernseher mit VHS-Player und einer Auswahl an Affen-VHS-Klassikern bereit stehen. Wer es lieber melodisch mag, legt eine Schallplatte auf und stöbert dabei durch die Private „Bibliothek“, die neben vielen Monkey-Merch-Artikeln das offen gestaltete Regal füllt. Der angrenzende Barbereich, Mittelpunkt des Appartement, mit seiner Bar aus antikem Kupfer und grünen Kacheln, ermöglicht den Gästen, den perfekten Gin&Tonic zu mixen und auf den weichen Barhockern zu genießen. Das Schlafzimmer ist durch eine große Schiebetüre abgetrennt. Im Inneren werden die Gäste von einer gedämpften erdigen Farbpalette und schönen, hochwertigen Möbeln und Betten begrüßt. Um den Monkey-Spirit noch mehr zu vermitteln, sind alle Bereiche der Suite mit echten Pflanzen und filigranen Dekorationsgegenständen geschmückt, die allen aktuellen und zukünftigen Monkey-Liebhabern ein Lächeln ins Gesicht zaubern werden.
